A festive red and green cake with a peaceful winter scene, complete with Christmas trees on top.
Equipment
- Round cake pan
- Piping bag
Ingredients
- 5 eggs
- 2 tbsp vanilla extract
- 3 cups flour
- 1 1/4 cups sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup water
- red & green food coloring
- 8 oz marzipan
- 16 oz cream cheese
- tempered white chocolate
- red & blue food coloring
- Pocky sticks
- sugar pearls & sprinkles
Instructions
- Separate the eggs and beat the egg whites until stiff. Add sugar and vanilla extract to the egg yolks and stir until creamy. Gradually add cooking oil, water, flour, and baking powder. Carefully fold in the egg whites to create a frothy batter.
- Divide the cake batter between 2 bowls. Use red food coloring to color the batter in one bowl and green food coloring for the other. Mix both well.
- Grease and flour a round cake pan. Alternate pouring the green and red batter into the center of the pan.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and bake the cake for 1 hour. Combine marzipan and cream cheese to create a smooth frosting. Cut the cooled cake horizontally into 2 pieces and cover the first half with a thick layer of frosting.
- Place the second half on top and coat the entire cake with frosting.
- Temper the white chocolate over a water bath and mix in the food coloring until neon green. Fill a piping bag with the chocolate. Sketch a tree on paper, place a plastic sheet on top, and pipe the tree on a Pocky stick. Decorate with sugar pearls and sprinkles.
- Let the trees cool before removing them from the plastic. Stick the trees into the cake and sprinkle powdered sugar on top.
