Fried milk may sound like a weird thing at first, but leche frita is a very popular, not to mention delicious, dessert in Spain. And best of all, it's super easy to make and the fact that it's served on a stick makes it twice as nice because it means no sticky fingers!
Pour 2 cups of milk into a saucepan over medium heat, add the lemon peel and cinnamon sticks, and bring to a boil.
Stir the sugar into the milk mixture, reduce the heat to low, and let simmer for 5 minutes. Remove the lemon peel and cinnamon sticks from the saucepan.
Mix the corn starch and 1 cup of milk together, pour the mixture into the saucepan, and whisk until combined.
Grease a small rectangular food container with butter and pour the milk mixture inside. Let the mixture cool to room temperature and then refrigerate for 3 hours.
Once the mixture has solidified, flip the food container over onto a cutting board and gently slide the contents out of the container.
Cut the solidified mass vertically into 6 equal pieces and push a popsicle stick into the bottom of each piece.
Heat some cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Coat the milk pieces in flour and egg and fry on each side until golden brown. Roll the fried milk pieces in cinnamon sugar while still warm.
