As tasty as spaghetti and meatballs are, the chaotic way they spread all over the plate can be a real horror for true sticklers for order. But as the following recipe proves, it’s possible to serve this dish in a much neater way with nice and orderly layers!
Spaghetti & Meatball Sandwich
A neat and orderly way to enjoy spaghetti and meatballs in a sandwich form.

Ingredients
- 14 oz tomato sauce
- 8 oz shredded mozzarella
- 2 lbs ground beef
- 1 tbsp paprika
- 2 tbsp majoram
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp mustard
- 5 tbsp bread crumbs
- 2 eggs
- salt, pepper
- 3 eggs
- 4 oz grated parmesan
- 16 oz cooked spaghetti
Instructions
- Knead all the ingredients for the meatballs together in a bowl. Form the mixture into small meatballs and fry them in a pan until all sides are evenly cooked.
- Beat 3 eggs together and stir in the parmesan. Pour this mixture over the cooked spaghetti and mix everything together well.
- Spread half of the spaghetti over the base of a circular baking pan. Add the meatballs on top, pour the tomato sauce over them, and sprinkle on the mozzarella. Use the rest of the spaghetti for the final layer on top.
- Bake your Spaghetti & Meatball Sandwich at 350°F for 15 minutes. Once it's done, remove the baking pan and serve.

The story goes that the sandwich was invented in the 18th century by the Earl of Sandwich because he wanted something to eat while he was playing cards — he probably never dreamt that a variation on his humble invention like this would exist one day!
