If anyone needed an excuse to eat more cheese, fondue is the answer to your prayers. The only drawback is the special equipment the traditional Swiss recipe usually requires. But in this case, no fondue set necessary. And better yet, with a bowl as crispy and tempting as this one, there’s no clean up afterwards!
Potato Fondue
Equipment
- Knife
- Aluminum Foil
- Baking Sheet
Ingredients
- 1 round loaf of crusty bread
- 1 wheel of camembert cheese
- 16 small potatoes
- 8 slices bacon
Instructions
- Slice the top of the loaf of bread to serve as a lid. Place the wheel of camembert in the center and trace around it with a knife. Then tear out the bread inside this circle until it is deep enough for the cheese wheel to fit inside.
- Peel and boil the potatoes. As soon as they are cooked, wrap each potato in a half a slice of bacon.
- Cover the cheese wheel and bread bowl with its lid and wrap in aluminum foil. Bake the bread and the bacon-wrapped potatoes on a separate baking sheet at 355°F for 30 minutes.
- When your timer goes off, the potatoes and bread can go straight from the oven to the table. Forks at the ready! Now it's time to enjoy your cheesy reward.
