For many people, there’s one thing that grandma always does best: pie and cake baking. And she most certainly has a delicious recipe for apple pie. Wait! Before you fall too deeply into those childhood memories, check out this easy recipe for perhaps the smallest apple pies in the world!
Mini Apple Pies
Ingredients
- 2 apples
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 sheets shortcrust pastry
- 1 egg white
Instructions
- Peel the apples and cut them into small cubes, then place the cubes in a bowl.
- Add the brown sugar and cinnamon to the apples and mix well.
- Melt the butter in a pan and add the apples first, followed by the cornstarch. Cook until the apple mixture begins to thicken.
- Place small portions of the cooked apples on the outspread pastry sheet, and cover with a second sheet. Press the second sheet firmly down, and cut out the apple-filled pastry with a round cookie cutter. Using a fork, press the edges of your mini pies. Brush the pies with egg white and cut a small cross on the top of the pies to avoid cracks.
- Now bake in the oven at 375°F for 15-20 minutes.
