Ingredients

  • 6 apples
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp corn starch
  • 1/2 lemon (juice)
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 1/2 cups cream cheese
  • 3/4 cup Nutella
  • 6 egg whites
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 2/3 cups flour
  • powdered sugar for topping

Instructions

  • Chop the apples and stir them together with the sugar, cinnamon, corn starch, and lemon juice. Heat the apples in a pan on the stove until all of the liquid is cooked off. Transfer the cooked apples to a baking tray coated in parchment paper and let them cool.
  • Preheat the oven to 325°F. For the cake batter, beat the egg whites together with the sugar and salt until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Gradually stir in the vegetable oil, milk, and flour, alternating between the 3 ingredients. Once everything is combined, pour the cake batter over the apples spread it evenly over the baking tray. Transfer the baking tray to the oven and bake the cake at 325°F for 30–35 minutes. Once the cake has baked, let it cool completely, then flip it over onto a new piece of baking paper. Remove the baking paper on top of the cake so that the apples are facing upwards.
  • Beat together the cream cheese and Nutella until combined, then spread the chocolate cheesecake cream over the surface of the layer of apples. Sprinkle the chopped walnuts on top of the chocolate layer, then use the baking paper underneath to help roll the cake into a snug log. Once it's rolled up, transfer the cake roll to the refrigerator and let it chill for 2 hours.
  • Once the cake roll has chilled, sprinkle powdered sugar on top to serve.
