Chicken Tandoori Box Patties
Equipment
- Bowl
- Rolling Pin
- Pan
- Pot
Ingredients
- 1.5 cups flour
- 0.25 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 0.33 cup water
- 3 tbsp plain yogurt
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 0.5 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp tandoori masala
- 0.5 tsp grated ginger
- 0.5 tsp grated garlic
- 8 oz chicken breast, cubed
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 0.5 tsp sugar
- 1 carrot, grated
- 0.25 head cabbage, grated
- 0.5 tsp pepper
- 2 tbsp flour
- 3-4 tbsp water
- beaten eggs
- bread crumbs
- chili garlic sauce
- flour for your work surface
- olive oil to brush on your dough
Instructions
- Mix the flour, salt, and olive oil in a bowl and gradually add the water. Knead until smooth, then cover the dough and let it rest for about 30 minutes.
- Oil your hands and press the dough flat. Sprinkle some flour on your work surface and roll out the dough with a rolling pin. Use a pizza cutter to divide the dough into 4 parts and then brush olive oil over each piece. Stack all the pieces on top of each other, then roll out the dough once again.
- Heat a pan, add the dough, and cook over low heat for about 30 seconds on both sides. Now separate the 4 layers, put the pieces back on top of each other, and let cool. Straighten the edges and then cut the dough into strips that are about 3 x 10 inches.
- Place 1 strip in front of you and brush the flour glue over the center. Place another strip on top to form a cross, then put a dollop of the chili garlic sauce in the middle.
- Add the cubed chicken breast to a bowl and mix in the plain yogurt, salt, chili powder, tandoori masala, garlic, and ginger. Then fry the meat in a pan until fully cooked. TIP: If you let the meat marinate for about 30 minutes, it'll taste even better.
- Mix the mayonnaise, salt, pepper, and sugar, then add the grated carrot and cabbage. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the tandoori chicken and 1 tablespoon of the coleslaw on the dough and sprinkle some shredded mozzarella on top. Add some more flour glue to 3 of the dough arms and fold it into a pocket (first the piece of dough with no flour glue, then the rest).
- Heat some cooking oil in a pot to 325°F. Dredge the samosas in beaten egg and bread crumbs and fry in the hot oil for about 3-4 minutes.
