Ingredients
  

  • 1 cauliflower
  • 2.5 oz flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch pepper
  • 1 pinch nutmeg
  • 7 oz cheese
  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 onion
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp pepper
  • 8 slices prosciutto
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 12 fl oz cream
  • 2 tbsp mustard

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 325°F. Remove the outer leaves from the head of cauliflower, cut out the stalk, and boil in salted water until cooked.
  • Put the cauliflower in a large bowl and mash it with a potato masher. It's fine for a few lumps to remain.
  • Add the flour, egg, and seasonings and stir until all mixed together. Spread the cauliflower layer on the bottom of a casserole dish and top with ⅓ of the cheese.
  • Brown the ground beef in a little bit of olive oil and add the onions, garlic, and seasonings.
  • Let the butter and mustard melt together in a pot and gradually stir in the flour. Once the mixture starts to bubble, add the cream, salt, and pepper and bring to a boil. Cook the 8 slices of prosciutto in some oil, remove from the pan, and let cool.
  • Now layer the rest of the casserole: ground beef, ⅓ of the shredded cheese, and béchamel sauce.
  • Tear the prosciutto slices into pieces and spread over the sauce. Add the remaining ⅓ of the cheese and bake for 25 minutes.

Notes

Feel free to substitute the cheese and prosciutto for cheddar cheese and bacon to make this a bacon cheeseburger cauliflower casserole!
