When we think of barbecues, we normally think about meat — and lots of it! Steaks, burgers, hot dogs, chicken… the list goes on. But in recent years there’s been a new trend involving grilled vegetables, and why not? Grilled red peppers, onions, and carrots can make a tasty side dish for any meal. But here’s one you might not have thought of: cauliflower! Try out this recipe the next time you fire up the grill and add a bit of (cauli)flower power to your barbecue…
Cauliflower BBQ Bites

Ingredients
- 1 head cauliflower
- 1 cup flour
- 3 eggs, beaten
- 4 cups breadcrumbs
- 1 cup BBQ sauce
- 0.5 cup brown sugar
- 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
- 0.5 lemon
- 1 tsp pepper
Instructions
- Break up the head of cauliflower into small florets. Dunk the florets in the flour, then the egg, and then the breadcrumbs. Bake for 20 minutes at 355 F.
- Mix the sugar, pepper, garlic, and a squeeze of lemon into the BBQ sauce and heat it up in a pot.
- Mix the baked cauliflower bites into the warm BBQ sauce and serve with a dip, e.g. ranch dressing.
