Equipment

  • Casserole Dish
  • Saucepan

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup milk lukewarm
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 1/2 tbsp sugar
  • 1/4 stick butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1/4 stick butter melted
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg pinch
  • 1 stick butter
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 1/2 tbsp honey
  • 1 1/4 cups chopped pecans

Instructions

  • Mix the dry yeast and milk in a bowl and add in the eggs, sugar, butter, salt, and flour. Knead everything until a smooth dough starts to form. Cover the dough and let it rise for about 60-90 minutes.
  • Add the butter, brown sugar, and honey to a saucepan and bring to a boil. Pour the liquid caramel into a casserole dish and cover with chopped pecans.
  • Roll the dough out on a floured work surface to about 14 x 16 inches. Brush the melted butter over the dough and sprinkle the brown sugar-cinnamon-nutmeg mixture on top.
  • Roll up the dough and cut off the end pieces. Cut the rest into 6 equal pieces (about 2 1/2 inches thick).
  • Place the buns on top of the chopped pecans in the casserole dish. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and let the sticky buns rise for about 30 minutes. Afterwards, transfer the pan to a preheated oven set to 350°F and bake for 10 minutes. Let everything cool down for about 10 minutes and then flip the dish over onto a serving platter so that the nuts are on top.
