Ingredients
  

  • 16 oz ground beef
  • 12 slices bacon
  • 0.25 cup cream cheese
  • 0.67 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 0.67 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tbsp diced jalapeños
  • 1 medium onion

Instructions
 

  • Shape the ground beef into 2 balls and create a deep well in each of them by pressing a beer or soda can in the center. Wrap 4 slices of bacon each around the outside of both patties and then carefully remove the can.
  • For the cheesy filling, combine the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, and jalapeños and spoon the mixture into the wells in the patties.
  • Slice the onion into 4 thick rings and wrap a slice of bacon around each onion ring.
  • Grill everything over indirect heat at 325°F for 20-25 minutes.

What at first appears to be an act of vandalism against a blameless burger, with hindsight, turns about to be a real stroke of inspiration. The beer can, standing proudly in the ground beef, didn’t get there by accident. It creates space for a spicy, creamy filling that means these burgers leave all others in the dust.
