Create a small culinary masterpiece using puff pastry and apples. It's almost too pretty to eat! These beautiful apple roses look like they should be on the menu at a five-star restaurant, but they're actually super easy to make, only requiring five ingredients. But when you take them out of the oven - WOW!
Equipment
- Muffin pan
- Cupcake liners
Ingredients
- 2 apples
- 1 sheet puff pastry
- 3 tbsp apricot jam
- 0.5 lemon juice
- 1 tsp cinnamon
Instructions
- First remove the cores, and cut the apples into thin slices. Fill a bowl halfway with water and add the lemon juice. Add the apples to the liquid, and microwave for 3 minutes.
- Combine about 3 tablespoons of apricot jam with 3 tablespoons of water.
- Roll the puff pastry flat until it is about 30 cm in length, and cut it into 6 cm-wide strips.
- Coat half of the pastry strip with the apricot jam and then add about 7 apple slices on top. Sprinkle some cinnamon over the top, and then fold the other side of the strip over, so that the apples are covered. Starting from the bottom of the strip, carefully roll the puff pastry.
- Place each rose into a cupcake liner, and then into a muffin pan. Bake for 35-45 minutes at 375°F.
