Many myths and legends often involve a mysterious island surrounded by treacherous seas. The origin of this recipe is lost somewhere in the mists of time, but our Cauliflower Island in béchamel sauce is much more welcoming — both on first viewing and when you cut into it!
Cauliflower Island in Béchamel Sauce
A delicious and mysterious island made of ground beef, Babybel cheese, and cauliflower, topped with a creamy béchamel sauce.

Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 5 mini Babybel cheese wheels
- 0.5 head cauliflower
- 1 tsp curry powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp chopped garlic
- 1 tsp mustard
- 1 tsp ketchup
- salt & pepper to taste
- 1 oz flour
- 1 oz butter
- 6 fl oz milk
- 1 bay leaf
- nutmeg to taste
- cayenne pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp chopped parsley
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Season the ground meat with curry powder, paprika, cumin, garlic, mustard, and ketchup. Add salt and pepper to taste. Spread a portion of the seasoned meat on a baking tray.
- Place the Babybel cheese wheels on top of the meat base and cover them with the remaining meat.
- Decorate the meat mountain with cauliflower florets and bake for 25 minutes at 325°F.
- Prepare the béchamel sauce by melting butter in a pan, adding flour, and cooking carefully. Pour milk into the pan and season with nutmeg, bay leaf, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Cook until the flour dissolves and the sauce is shiny.
- Before pouring the béchamel sauce over the meat creation, finely chop parsley, mix with olive oil, and apply to the cauliflower florets.
