Fried Spaghetti & Meatball On A Stick
Spaghetti and meatballs go together like peanut butter and jelly – you can't have one without the other. But if you want to kick things up a bit and take pasta to a whole new level, you're going to want to try this recipe because we're rolling the noodles into balls, stuffing both balls with cheese, deep fat frying them, and sliding them onto a stick!
Equipment
- Wooden Skewers
Ingredients
- 1 lb beef
- 1.5 cups panko bread crumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp chopped parsley
- 15 cheddar cubes
- 10 oz cooked spaghetti noodles
- 1 egg
- 1 egg yolk
- 15 mozzarella pearls
- 1.33 cups wheat flour
- 0.25 cup corn starch
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 1.5 cups ice cold water
- paprika
Instructions
- Sieve the wheat flour, corn starch, and baking powder, add salt, and mix everything together. Add the ice cold water and stir the batter vigorously with a whisk until it begins to bubble and only a few lumps remain. Refrigerate the batter for 30 minutes.
- Add the ground beef, cracked egg, bread crumbs, parsley, salt, and pepper to a bowl and mix well. Form 15 small meatballs in the palm of your hand, stuff each meatball with a cheddar cheese cube, and chill the meatballs.
- Cook the spaghetti noodles in salted water. Drain the pasta water, add an egg, egg yolk, and some pepper and let everything cool down.
- First stick a meatball on a wooden skewer and then slide a mozzarella pearl onto the skewer and wrap spaghetti noodles around it. If you knot the spaghetti noodles together beforehand, they will hold better on the skewer.
- Pour the tempura batter on a flat plate and sprinkle paprika over half of the batter. Roll the skewer through the batter so that the spaghetti balls are coated in plain tempura batter and the meatballs are coated in paprika tempura batter. Fry the skewers in hot oil and blot them on paper towels afterwards.
