Course Desserts

Ingredients

  • 5 oz powdered sugar sieved
  • 1 tbsp corn starch
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 0.5 tsp vanilla extract
  • food coloring
  • 10 oz bag of marshmallows
  • 16 oz powdered sugar
  • 4 tbsp sugar

Instructions

  • Stir the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, corn starch, honey, and water together and divide the mixture into 3 bowls. Mix a different food coloring into each bowl and pour each color into a piping bag. Pipe small dots and long lines from each color onto a sheet pan lined with parchment paper. Let the colorful dots and lines dry and then cut the lines with a knife. Put your homemade sprinkles in a container and they're ready to go the next time you need to decorate a cake.
  • Place the marshmallows in a large bowl and add water. Place the bowl inside a pot with some water in it and let the marshmallows melt over the hot water bath while stirring regularly. You can also melt them in the microwave. Spread powdered sugar on your work surface. Place the melted marshmallow mass in the center and knead it with powdered sugar until smooth. Add the food coloring as needed and knead the mass until the color is evenly absorbed. Microwave the mass again so that it's easier to work with. Then shape and use the fondant as desired.
  • Add the food coloring to the sugar and mix with a spoon. Sprinkle the colored sugar on a sheet pan lined with parchment paper and bake at 350°F for 10 minutes. Pour the sugar into a container so you have it on hand when you want to decorate cookies, cakes, and whatever else your heart desires.
