Equipment

  • Pan

Ingredients

  • 9 oz flour
  • 5 fl oz lukewarm water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 7 oz shredded cheddar
  • 7 oz onions sliced
  • 16 oz beef steak strips
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 0.5 tsp pepper
  • 2 tomatoes sliced
  • 4 leaves green leaf lettuce

Instructions

  • Prepare the dough using the flour, lukewarm water, and salt. Knead for about 5 minutes. Halve the dough and form 2 balls. Roll both dough balls out into a circle, making sure that they are both approximately the same size. Cook both sides of each dough circle, one right after the other, in a dry pan over medium heat. Set the first cooked flatbread aside for now and leave the second flatbread in the pan.
  • Once the second flatbread is well cooked on both sides, sprinkle the cheddar cheese on top. Once the cheese has begun to melt, remove the pan from the heat for a moment.
  • In another pan, sauté the sliced onions in olive oil and season with salt and sugar. Once the onions have begun to brown, put them on the flatbread with cheddar cheese.
  • Let the second pan get hot again and add some olive oil. Add the steak strips, sauté them, and season with salt and pepper.
  • Put the cooked meat on top of the onions, and garnish with a few tomato slices and leaves of green leaf lettuce. Top off the sandwich with the plain flatbread piece from the beginning – you can use the plate to help flip the sandwich from the pan.
