Pizza is undoubtedly one of the most popular meals in the world. Whether it’s Chicago-style deep dish, New York thin crust, calzone, or the authentic Neapolitan classic, this Italian specialty is always a winner at any dinner table. As tasty as this dish is though, it’s not the most practical of snacks when you’re out and about — once sliced, it can quickly fall apart in your hand as the dough becomes limp and soggy. Wouldn’t it be great if there were a solution to this messy problem? Well, we’ve come up with an innovative way to keep the sauce from your fingers!
Pizza Buttons
Equipment
- Oven
Ingredients
- 1 quiche dough
- 2/3 cup tomato sauce
- 12 slices pepperoni
- 2.5 oz mozzarella
- 1 egg wash
Instructions
- Roll out the dough and use a small bowl or cup to cut out eight circles of the same size.
- Spoon some tomato sauce onto four of the dough circles before placing three slices of pepperoni, another helping of tomato sauce, and some mozzarella on top of them. Then brush some egg wash along the edge of the dough circles which should be free of sauce.
- Cut small four small holes into the remaining dough circles using a straw — you want them to look like a button. These are then placed on top of the prepared pizza circles and gently pressed down at the edges using a glass.
- Brush the pizza button with egg wash and place them in the oven for 20 minutes at 375 F.
