We’re willing to go out on a limb and say that basically everyone has a loaf of sliced bread on hand at all times. But being such a staple also gives sliced bread a reputation for being boring, typical, or even repetitive. Keeping that in mind, we’re about to transform your sliced bread with these 4 simple recipes. Check out just how versatile your bread can be!

2. Potato Pakora
Yield: 3
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 5 minutes
Difficulty Level: Easy
You’ll Need:
For the filling:
- 3 slices white bread
- ⅓ cup water
- 1 tbsp hot sauce
For the cheesy mashed potatoes:
- 2 medium potatoes
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 tbsp chopped parsley
- salt, pepper & nutmeg to taste
- 3 cheese cubes
Here’s How:
2.1 Wash and boil the potatoes, keeping the skins on. Once softened, drain the potatoes and let cool, then peel off the skin. Mash the peeled potatoes and season with salt, pepper, nutmeg, and parsley. Add the yolk of 1 egg to help bind the mashed potatoes.
2.2 Coat a cheese cube in the mashed potatoes and form into a log.
2.3 Briefly freeze the potato cheese logs.
2.4 Heat a pot of cooking oil. Stir the water and hot sauce together in a shallow bowl or plate. Cut the crust off of the slices of bread and dip them, one at a time, in the hot sauce mixture.
2.5 Press the soaked bread flat between your hands, making sure it doesn’t tear, then wrap the potato cheese log in it, pressing down firmly so that everything stays together.
2.6 Fry the spicy mashed potato sticks in hot oil until golden brown using a metal slotted spoon.
